DiGiorno Pizza Recall Overview:

Who: Nestle USA is recalling pizzas after being contacted by a consumer.
Why: Nestle distributed a limited quantity of the product with mismatched packaging to retailers in the U.S. The product being recalled was produced on June 30, 2021.
Where: The recall is nationwide.

Nestlé USA, Inc. is recalling about 28,000 pounds of DiGiorno Crispy Pan Crust Pepperoni Pizza due to potential mislabeling and undeclared soy, a known allergen, according to a press release on Nestle's website.

The affected pizzas are labeled as DiGiorno Crispy Pan Crust Pepperoni Pizza, but in fact are DiGiorno Three Meat Crispy Pan Crust Pizza, which contain soy in the beef topping and sausage crumbles. People who are allergic to soy could have an allergic reaction and should not consume the product.

The recalled products are 26 oz. boxes containing pizza in a tray with a plastic overwrap, labeled "DiGiorno Crispy Pan Crust Pepperoni Pizza" with a manufacturing date of June 30, 2021, "best by" date of March 2022 and batch code 1181510721. They also include establishment number "EST. 1682A" inside the USDA mark of inspection. These items were shipped to retail locations and distribution centers nationwide.

No other production dates of DiGiorno Crispy Pan Crust Pepperoni Pizza, and no other DiGiorno products are impacted by this recall.

The problem was discovered after Nestlé USA received a consumer complaint that a three meat pizza was in a carton labeled as pepperoni pizza..

"There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of this product," the Nestle press release states.

However, anyone concerned about an injury, illness or allergic reaction should contact a healthcare provider, according to the press release. Consumers who have purchased this product are urged not to consume them. This product should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase. For consumers not allergic to soy, there is no safety issue with this product.

"The quality, safety and integrity of Nestlé USA and DiGiorno products remain our number one priority," the press release states. "We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this action represents to both our consumers and retail customers."
