Bogus.

Don't expect that repair to last, as the small amounts of banana that fill the scratch begin to oxidize and become less translucent.

Try Nu Finish (the once-a-year car polish) or Meguiar's PlastX Clear Plastic Cleaner & Polish instead. If the scratches are particularly bad, buff the disc with toothpaste or Brasso first to wear down the adjacent surface and make the scratches relatively less pronounced. Then use one of the polishes to fill in the scratches.

I have tried most of the quackery I have read about fixing scratched CDs but I have never heard of using Nu Finish(I love that stuff). I will try this when I get home because I have been trying to rescue my audio book of "Ethel the Aardvark Goes Quantity Surveying" for some time.

Rain-X works okay as well, for little scratches, at least long enough for me to save a few backup disks. Haven't tried the toothpaste thing though.

Apply lil bit of water to scratch. Apply Salt to water covered region. Buff out scratch. Best method thats worked for me that doesn't included any polishes. This does makes the disc a lil bit cloudly, but it really doesn't affect the overall readibility of the disc, so much as the original scatch gets buffed out... Seriously, try it.
